The atmosphere and everything definitely makes the whole place so creepy and gives that horror feeling and the updates on lighting and everything just adds even more to the atmosphere. These upgrades can enhance your fleet abilities (speed, fuel efficiency ect.) or, what most people hunt derelicts for, hyperdrive range of your freighter.
