Your gun with a "C" serial number prefix cannot be a Mountie, as the "C" prefix indicates your gun was made in 1946. Problem is, the 39-A Mountie did not come out until 1953 with a letter "K" prefix and a 24 inch barrel which was later changed to a 20 inch barrel.I now own the Marlin Model 1893 30-30 that my fathers bought from a friend in 1949 - I remember hunting with him when I was under ten years old.
